I love the new look of the blog! Very nicely updated, and the scrolling photos on the homepage are a nice touch. Good choice!
Oooh…I forgot to tell you what I like when it comes to pork! Pulled pork from Oklahoma Joe’s in Olathe or KCK is almost ALWAYS my pick when it comes to restaurant-style pork dishes. They do it just right! In fact, if I’m the winner of the gift card, I’m thinking that I’m overdue for a trip to Oklahoma Joe’s…
Carolyn’t Essenhaus in Arlington is my favorite Kansas restaurant. They have the best sandwich called the Farmer’s Special, which is a hamburger with a delicious slice of ham on it and toasted bread and it is just amazing!
Looks great! I love the Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich at the Anchor in Wichita! YUM!
I really like the new blog. Very easy to navigate.
My most favorite restaurant would be the Santa Fe Cafe in Burlingame, KS. I love there breakfasts- the ham and cheese omelet. My 16 year old son always orders their bacon cheese burgers. I know that these are not what you would typically call pork dishes but if the pork were not included in these dishes- they wouldn’t taste as good.
Pork is Pork Sheila! Bacon and Ham are some of the simplest yet most delicious ways to add pork to your meals, and we’re happy to include these types of dishes in our guide. Today’s post is, after all, about donuts with bacon on them. 🙂
Oklahoma Joes is my place for pork! The Hog Heaven sandwich is my favorite – pulled pork, sausage and 100% awesomeness.
Boss Hawgs in Topeka. Their babybacks are sublime.
I just had Boss Hawgs babybacks last night, and I’ve got more in my refrigerator. I definitely must agree with you there!
Hog Wild in Wichita. I love their pulled pork in a sandwich or on a loaded baked potato. Yummo!!
Hi Jess,
Just enjoyed a delicious slow roasted pork “dish meal” at Taqueria El Paisa in Wichita. If I win, I’ll head straight to Stroot’s Locker in Goddard, Kansas, for more delicious pork. — Lynn Woolf
Kansas City is such a great place to find a variety of pork. I’m pretty committed to Oklahoma Joe’s as my favorite, but I like to try them all.
Very nice, and very nice work too.
Thanks for the tips and I’ll be visiting all the one’s new to me.
I would recommend Jack Stacks in KC to everyone here as well. Excellent BBQ – burnt ends are my favorites – and wonderful people.
i go to the pick smoke n grill in shawnee and get the porker burger. you can’t go wrong with a burger topped with pulled pork and bacon.
I like Famous Dave’s here in Manhattan and their pulled pork sandwich is great! Slather it in the Texas style sauce and it’s a good substitute for Cooper’s down in Llano…..jk 😉
As you’ve noted, there are many places to get great pork in Kansas. In my opinion, you just can’t go wrong with ribs from Biggs in Lawrence! Their sides are amazing, too!
Although my favorite pork is my dad’s Garlic Pork Ribs, if I had to choose a restaurant, I would say Gobi Grille in west Wichita. They offer delicious lean pork on the menu to “build my own bowl.” I like to add snow peas, water chestnuts, an egg, green onions, onions, bell peppers and baby corn to the bowl. Gobi stir fries the pork with the veggies and adds Gobi Sauce, serving all this yumminess over fried rice. OMG – pork heaven!
That sounds sooooo good! And a unique way to eat pork, too!
Bobby D’s in Emporia Kansas —- their pulled pork sandwich is the best around —– they serve a variety of smoked meats —- BUT the Pulled Pork is by far the best. Round it out with cheesy potatoes & baked beans YUMMY
With my husband being at Ft Riley & me working in Manhattan we tend to favor Cox Bros BBQ. The slow smoked pulled pork is to die for. And the ribs can’t be beat either. And if you are watching your calories they serve a huge salad topped with a pile of the delicious pulled pork. But, if I won the gift card I would definately journey out of town to try one of the great places you have recommened. Great web page too! Going to have to try the bacon donut @ Varsity next trip to the Ville!
Also, the chili verde burrito plate at La Mexicana in Wamego is an amazing pork dish. Slow simmered with tamatillo sauce rolled into burrito heaven!! Try it! You will love it!
I love the pulled pork at Famous Dave’s in Wichita, KS! I also love to buy a good bone-in pork chop at W.B. Meats in Arkansas City, KS and fry it at home!
I’m a bacon lover and always get a side of it when I’m at First Watch in Lawrence! (ask for andrew, hes the best server!) Or down on mass street in Lawrence- au marche has chocolate bacon candy bars! (ask for meg!)
Ok, I must find one of these bacon candy bars!
CHICKEN-FRIED PORK STEAK – house-butchered duroc pork steak, potatoes, gravy & two fried eggs at 715 in Lawrence. So very tasty.
My husband and I frequent Hog Wild Pit BBQ in Wichita…ribs, pulled pork, …then in Wellington Ks there is a place called El Chili verde that makes some awesome pork chili ! At home we BBQ pork steak, I’ve made pork chopped up with mushroom gravy, fried pork chops. I have this recipe I use to make chicken enchilidas, I’m going to use to make pork enchilidas with some roast pork. We use baon in our potaote soup, and my daughters zuppa toscana which also has sausage in it as well, it’s delish!!
I love Hog Wild in Salina. And pork steak, too for that matter!
going to try to can some pork roast too for quick dishes…I like to can meat as it makes fixing a meal quick and easy.
My favorite place to eat pork is Famous Dave’s BBQ! I usually have the 2 meat combo (ribs and/or pulled pork) I usually go through a bunch of the paper towels they have on the table!
I love trying all the different BBQ sauces they have!
