Hey pork lovers! My name is Amanda, and I am the new kid on the block that has the privilege of working for farmers at Kansas Pork. My role here is focused on communications and assisting with programming where needed. And don’t worry, Jodi is still here and will continue to stay involved with comments and posts from time to time. If you are new to this blog be sure to take some time to get to know what we are all about here on In Pursuit of Pork.
Just a little bit about myself so that you can get to know me. I recently graduated in May 2013 from Kansas State University with a B.S. in agricultural communications and journalism. Though Kansas is now where I call home, I am originally from beautiful Eastern Oregon, along the Columbia River that divides Oregon and Washington. It is there where my respect for farmers began. My own pork background involves raising show pigs for 4-H and FFA. An interest in good food and a healthy appetite for pork was given to me by my dad, who owns a BBQ catering business. So I guess one could say that I have some experience as ‘meat seasoner’ and ‘taste tester’ in my background.
I have found a second home here in the Midwest. My story of how I got here might be long, but my reason for staying is simple. I found a place where I could grow and friendly people who share my values. (And — the pride of bleeding K-State purple is fiercely contagious.)
Whether you are a chef, an educator, a farmer, a “foodie” or have just stopped by to see what we are all about, my heart is for people and sharing their stories. I am excited to help our bloggers, Mike and Chris, continue to explore Kansas restaurants “in pursuit of pork.”
And, I am excited to get to know you, our faithful readers. Please feel free to leave us a comment to continue to help us get to know you better or let us know if you have any questions.
Until next time,
